Church of the Epiphany

About

Welcome to the Church of the Epiphany, a faithful and joyful community of the Episcopal Church. This website is maintained so that you might “catch a glimpse” of our community and learn a little about our life together in Christ. Please take a moment to explore the information about the church, the photos, and the upcoming events in the life of our parish.

At Epiphany, we work together to provide a spiritual home for our membership, while seeking ways to reach out to the wider community with helping hands and loving hearts.

Our tradition – the Episcopal tradition – of Word and Sacrament gives us a deep and abiding sense of God’s love through the person of Jesus Christ. Each Sunday finds us gathered for worship: seeking, praying, listening, thinking and exploring our shared calling for mission and ministry.

This community has provided us with a gift – the gift of communion with God and with one another. You will find much joy, laughter, and grace at Epiphany. We are a welcoming and inclusive church with a big heart, a loving community with much to share, a hard-working family with a “can do” spirit.

Welcome to our corner of God’s kingdom!

Our Ministries

  • Outreach Ministry

The mission of the Outreach Ministry of the Church of the Epiphany is to serve God by showing Christ’s ever-present love, justice and mercy to the world through leadership in outreach ministry. The Ministry promotes responsible stewardship in the parish through outreach activities and charitable giving.

In keeping with our stated mission, twice a year the Outreach Ministry conducts an In-Reach throughout our parish family to collect non-perishable food items to supply our Food Pantry. All families at Epiphany are asked to bring a grocery bag full of items. We also gratefully accept monetary donations for this endeavor.

Epiphany Outreach also fills grocery bags and keeps them in the church office for families in need. Non-perishable foods are also supplied daily to our self-serve outdoor pantry, called “God’s Little Pantry.” Each member of the Ministry chooses a day to add supplies to the Pantry, located in the parking lot of the church. Those in need in the community can come check God’s Little Pantry at any time.

On the second Saturday each month, our ministry members are in the parking lot to hand out bagged beans and rice to anyone that drives up.

When the need arises, we are also a resource for United Way and have assisted in rent, housing, and utility payments for those referred by that agency. We have also supported a small missionary church in Africa.

We currently have seven active members, organizing these tasks in the church. Any member of Epiphany is eligible to become a member of this Ministry.

  • Altar Guild

The function of the Altar Guild is to care for the altar, sanctuary and chapel, making sure everything is clean and in good repair.

The altar is the center of the Church’s life and is the major concern of the Altar Guild. In addition, we prepare for all the worship services held in the parish and we do this out of our love for God and the desire to serve Him and His people. Jan Maxwell serves as Altar Guild Director.

  • Daughters of the King

This is an order for women in the Episcopal Church with Chapters in the Roman Catholic Church and in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.  Daughters are dedicated to prayer and service for Christ’s sake. Members undertake a Rule of Life, incorporating the Rule of Prayer and the Rule of Service.  By reaffirmation of the promises made at Confirmation, a Daughter pledges herself to a life-long program of prayer, service, and evangelism, dedicated to the spread of Christ’s Kingdom and the strengthening of the spiritual life of her parish. Cheri Blair is president of Daughters of the King.

  • Men's Ministry

Men’s Breakfast and Bible Study meets with Fr. Aaron on Fridays at 7:00 a.m. via Zoom. For the first half hour (7:00-7:30) we enjoy our food and fellowship. From 7:30 to 8:00 we explore Holy Scripture together. We finish promply at 8:00 a.m. with prayer. If you are interested in joining this group, please contact the church for a Zoom invite.

  • Choir

Epiphany is blessed with an outstanding facility for music. This only adds to the critical importance that we place on music throughout our worship. Currently, under the able leadership of Choirmaster, Cheri Blair, our choir and music program is strong and growing. We count ourselves blessed to have such gifted folks among us.

Choir: Epiphany boasts of a choir that enhances our worship on Sunday mornings at the 10:30 a.m. service, as well as many special services throughout the year. Our choir is a volunteer group, so whether you are a novice or a trained vocalist you are more than encouraged to come and make a joyful noise. The adult choir meets at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday Evenings (September thru May) in the Heritage Room, which is the room directly across from the church office. They also meet Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m. in the same room to go over Sunday’s music and limber up their voices. They have a great time just being with each other.

  • Pastoral Care

Members of the Pastoral Care Ministry serve as members of a team which provides meals, cards, presence, prayers, visits and encouragement to parishioners experiencing health issues or grieving the death of a loved one.

For information on how you can help, please contact Kathy Thompson, our Pastoral Care Coordinator at (256) 572-0363.
